On Friday, the 12th of September, a lively and enthusiastic party of 36 bowlers, which included a delightful mix of friends from three other local clubs, embarked on an exciting long weekend adventure in the picturesque region of Mid Wales. The anticipation was palpable as we gathered, ready to explore not only the beautiful landscapes but also to engage in some friendly competition on the bowling green.
Throughout the weekend, we participated in a series of games at several charming venues, including the renowned Hay on Wye, the historic town of Knighton, and the scenic Llandrindod Wells, where we played indoors due to the unpredictable Welsh weather. Each location offered its unique atmosphere, contributing to the overall enjoyment of the tour. Although we did not play bowls at one of the venues, we made sure to attend the final gathering against Penteg House, where we were treated to a delightful afternoon of tea and cakes. This included an assortment of delicious homemade Welsh Cakes, which were a definite highlight, showcasing the local culinary delights.
Once again, our beloved mascot, Brenda, accompanied us on this journey, bringing joy and laughter to our group. Brenda was lovingly cared for by various teams of bowlers throughout the weekend, particularly those who found themselves on the less successful rinks. Her presence added a light-hearted spirit to our events, reminding us all of the camaraderie and fun that underpins our love for the sport.
Reflecting on the entire experience, it is evident that the tour was a resounding success. The host clubs went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, providing excellent facilities and friendly competition. The accommodations were comfortable, and the food served at the hotel was nothing short of superb, with a variety of options that catered to all tastes. Additionally, our transportation was expertly managed by Astons coaches, who ensured that our journeys were smooth and enjoyable, allowing us to focus on the fun and fellowship of the tour.
In closing, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the tourists who joined me on this memorable adventure. Your support means the world to me, and I am especially thankful for your generous contributions to our chosen charity, Pancreatic Cancer Action. Together, we are making a difference, and your kindness is truly appreciated.
